the poetic contrast between ana standing in eddie’s kitchen and telling him “i guess it’s your mess now” vs buck standing in eddie’s kitchen and telling him “you don’t need to pretend with me”, making it fully clear that eddie’s mess is his too. that he wants to share that burden with him. that eddie can be fully honest with him and let him in. basically begging him to not push him away. something something about this parallel that just……. clicks
(this is the savannah bananas. they dance. they wear kilts. they Love The Boys. also they have a dance team made up of seniors called the banana nanas, a “dad bod cheerleading squad”, the man-nanas, and a charity organisation focused on foster care called bananas foster)
can we talk about chimney for a moment? how soft, how tender he was? how he was willing to look past all of his confusion and anger and all those other complicated emotions he surely must have been feeling to hear maddie out? how he tore himself up about every single thing he could have done differently even though there was nothing he or maddie could have ultimately done that could have prevented this? what an amazing dad he is to jee-yun? how he waited for maddie faithfully and devotedly, even when she herself thought he would have given up? i just- *breaks down sobbing*
maddie feeling like she’s failed as a mother because she can never get back the time she’s lost with jee yun, feeling as though she’s missed too much to be able to make up for it, only to be reminded that her love for her daughter is what’s prevailed through it all when jee calls her mama and recognises her voice
eddie feeling like he’s failed as a father because he wasn’t there when christopher was a baby and blaming himself for driving shannon away, fighting with his parents over a role in christopher’s life he’s secretly not even sure he deserves, only for christopher to tell him “i miss you all the time”, reminding him that nothing else actually matters except for the love eddie’s willing to give his son
just. when are we gonna get to see eddie and maddie sit down and discuss their shared experiences????? when is eddie gonna turn to maddie and say, “you love her enough to never stop trying. that’s what matters”??????????? whEN 911?????????
